strangebrew20366532070123.gif …this is where we all wind up!

The New York Times this morning has an interesting article about the way “the law” limits options (read ties the hands) of University Officials.

Federal privacy and antidiscrimination laws restrict how universities can deal with students who have mental health problems. […]

“[…]What we really need to do is encourage students to seek mental health treatment if they need it, to remove any barriers to their getting help, destigmatize it, and make it safe, so they know there won’t be negative consequences,” said Karen Bower, a lawyer at the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law in Washington, who represented Mr. Nott. […]

“[…]They can’t really kick someone out because they’re writing papers about weird topics, even if they seem withdrawn and hostile,” said Dr. Richard Kadison, chief of mental health services at Harvard University. “Most state laws are pretty clear: you can only bring students to hospitals if there is imminent risk to themselves or someone else, so universities are in a bit of a bind that way.” […]

Some of what is quoted in this story is indicative of one thing, I believe, our legal system is insane and should be sent for counseling. For instance, If I have read Dr. Sanity correctly over the years, someone who is insane does not necessarily know that fact.

If I wear my protective tinfoil hat to keep the mothership from contacting me, and you don’t wear the hat I made for you, I’m not crazy you are.  Everyone knows you are going to get your brain-waves altered. You are absolutely insane.

To prove you are insane it is only necessary you read “the law,” you have allowed to be codified in the United States of America.

Lawyers and Judges,  have twisted so-called individual rights to mean you are not allowed to tell me I’m crazy, let alone do anything about it.

“What we really need to do is encourage students to seek mental health treatment if they need it…,”

Herein lies the insanity; if I believe the mother ship is sending me brain altering signals does it not follow that a non-insane person would reason I am incapable of recognizing my need for help. In my world I’m not crazy: You are. You are the ones ignoring the signals from the mothership, therefore I must take drastic action.

However, you don’t know I’m considering drastic action because you have not considered the effectiveness of my tin-foil hat. It works, and it works quite well, thank you. You and your kind cannot penetrate the protection of my hat. My hat is awesome, without it I would be crazy.

You can’t possibly know that my hat has informed me to bide my time, act like you act, and on the appointed day carry out the “final solution,” as outlined in the prime directive.  Moreover, even if you do penetrate the force field my hat arrays, you have written some kind of stupid law which says:

“you can only bring students to hospitals if there is imminent risk to themselves or someone else.”

That sentence should speak volumes to sane people, but it obviously doesn’t. Since you can’t know what kind of risk I am unless I tell you in advance I will not get help – will I? Of course, I’m not going to tell you about the communications I receive through my hat because I still understand well enough to know you will attempt to stop me and the prime directive says my mission must be carried out no matter what.

You have made a law tying your hands as regards me, and you have also made it a crime to defend yourselves from me. Who is the crazy person here? I know it isn’t me, therefore, it must be you. Duh!

I have to go now, the mothership has penetrated my shield and I’m getting some very strange instructions that the prime directive says I must carry out.

If I were a student at Virginia Tech and this crazy writing was a Creative Writing assignment, what can you do? Nothing.

And you call me crazy.

As you may notice I have changed the style again. I will do that, I suppose, until I can either get some of those A.D.D. drugs to calm me down, or until I can find something I really like.

I would by full membership (is that the proper term?) in WordPress, but right now I have to pay to keep the wife’s Web page going and I don’t want to pay for both.  So I fiddle with what is available for free on WordPress.

I do have to say this is the best provider on the internet for a “free” blog. They have a pretty impressive collection of templates and that is why I keep changing. If they had one or two I wouldn’t change so often then the two of you who read this wouldn’t always wonder what was going on.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica —  An American senior citizen killed an alleged mugger with his bare hands, and his traveling companions aboard a tour bus fended of two other assailants in the Atlantic coast city of Limon, police said.

A retired member of the U.S. military aged about 70 put suspect Warner Segura in a head lock and broke his clavicle after the 20-year-old and two other men armed with a knife and gun held up their tour bus, Luis Hernandez, the police chief of Limon, 80 miles east of San Jose, said Thursday. Segura was later declared dead, apparently from asphyxiation.

Just because we are getting older doesn’t mean we won’t defend ourselves.

Europe, in general, is just about what I expected it to be after several years.
Germany is another matter however, as I had not set foot in that country in over 45 years, so the memories are different.

Much that is German has not changed, nor will it. Buildings, farmers, these seem to be timeless. Of course, there are some new buildings, erected to replace those lost in war, and some to enlarge the capacity for hotel rooms, business and banking. But, ancient and even old buildings are not torn down, as they are in the United States, just to be tearing down and building; busy work some would call it or even progress, but that is a post for another time.

Farmers, naturally, tend to stick to methods that have proven successful for centuries, particularly since land is at a premium and must be carefully husbanded to preserve what growth capacity it has. Tractors are used more now than I remember. I didn’t see a team of oxen anywhere. Horse or ox teams pulling wagons and plows I remembered as being common back in the 60’s.

The Cathedrals still send their spires into the heavens and the constant maintenance of them continues apace. The Munster in Freiberg, started in 1200 ad., completed in 1500,  has its usual compliment of stone-masons gainfully employed in maintenance work as they have been for centuries.

These timeless buildings however, do suffer intrusion on their integrity and awe inspiring dignity, but it is not due to the elements of rain, sleet, snow or smog. Much of what they suffer is due to the engendered imbecility allowed to evolve in the minds of the young who believe, apparently, spray-painting everything with graffiti is some form of worship. There are even books available on how to accomplish this barbarian practice graffiti_art_germany.jpg . What I haven’t been able to ascertain however, is who reads the book to these obviously brain-damaged youngsters.

I would prefer the young, some have called them the Predator-generation, find their solace in the forest, preserving trees and worshipping at a makeshift Gaia alter, as opposed to painting on, or urinating on anything they wish to mark as their territory. My fear is that as this generation of, what can only be thought of as mindless-idiot’s, continues its’ slide into animalism the next thing for it to discover will be that feces can be thrown. Chimpanzees and most convicts have learned this form of  protest, so I can only assume it will not be long until the devolved young among us learn this as well. What feces-throwing will do for the German tourist industry can only be speculated upon. I know I will certainly have to examine my priorities when this eventuality becomes the norm in Germany.

I really didn’t mind encountering the aimless, some call them homeless, bodies littering the Deutsches Post lobby, (the stench was a bit much) but to encounter them as liberated, feces-throwing, Chimpanzee-like, beings will be a bit much even for me. goth21.jpg

Maybe if the liberal welfare system Socialists in Europe were to awaken one day to the fact that other people’s money should not be spent on hair dye for these morons the expense of removing graffiti from every flat surface everywhere would not have to incurred.

Having said all that I must admit I did enjoy my reminiscence journey and I will post more about it later.

driving-to-base.jpg A long time ago, in what now seems to have been another life, I used to drive to work on this road. It is in Sembach, Germany. Sembach Air Force Base is/was partially comprised of the buildings you can see in the distance. I don’t know if the U.S. still leases this facility or not.

ater today I am going to get IN a plane, I never get on them, for my first visit to this particular area of Europe in 40 years.

After I have reminisced for awhile I plan to get back in the rented “Beemer” or whatever, neuschwanstein_01_370.jpg to see for myself if this is a real place or just something that is plastered on every brochure to attract tourists.

Now, of course, I know I don’t have to explain myself, but I have a reader who has left a comment and a query on my page-posting “I’m OK thanks for asking.” Therefore, I thought it only civil I acknowledge that fact by explaining why I won’t answer his/her question right away. I will answer, of course, but as you see I will be otherwise engaged for a couple-a-weeks.

In the interim: Since the question has to do with metaphysical, Calvinist, God kinds of things – who is saved, who ain’t, that sort of thing – for the curious I suggest reading Gagdad Bob. Bob seems to be much more versed in the tricky things, like what does Predestination – “I have chosen you” – really mean.

There are questions we won’t know the answer to in this present “dimension” or “form.” For instance in Genesis it says God made the plants and herbs and such before the Earth was ready. Where did he keep them? Does anyone know? I don’t. Here’s what it, the Bible, says:

Gen 2:4,5, These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground

So it is that I will have to think for awhile before I answer my questioner. While I’m doing that I think I will ponder another one that us non-theologian types think about from time to time.

Genesis begins with the Creation (which I believe, I’m not questioning that, nor by the way do I intend to argue with you about it) but in the first Chapter of that book we are told:

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:

How can we REplenish something that has just been made? Inquiring minds want to know?

I swear on a stack of Bibles, to be colloquial about it, my teachers always told me “replenish” meant to fill something again that had been full but had somehow gotten emptied. But Genesis according to the Preachers starts everything from scratch. Does it?

Anyway when I get back I may let the world know what I think about “predestination.” Gagdad Bob just might say something about Karma. I don’t know. Or maybe you could read some of Jon Ray’s posts, he might call it “fate,” or something even though he does keep a Presbyterian Hymnal on his night stand.

See ya later.
